Night Spinner smh

So not too long ago I heard the semi-exciting news that Eldar were getting a new skimmer via the White Dwarf. So before the info leaks I was speaking to Mobious about how this new tank should not be added to my already crowded heavy support choice slot and guess what? thats exactly what here the next day. I'm sure you all seen that stats and did the math, this night spinner just doesn't cut it. If it is to be competing with the ubiqitous fire prism and falcon. The night spinner drops a a large blast that is one strength stronger then the prism but does not have an alternate firing mode that can threaten mech, BOOOO!. The spinner is slightly better at killing infantry then the prism but the prism is capable of hurting tanks as well. The spinner needs to be able to pop light tanks and be moved to fast attack for me to even consider buying one. The only reason for buying this new kit is for the all plastic fire prism, which is pretty sweet. Thanks for adding insult to injury GW. I'm off to the webway to mourn the untimely shelving of the night spinner where it will join the majority of the Eldar codex.

Week 1 Results, No pics = No Bat Rep?

Well I'm sad to say I did not take any pictures for my first game; it just slipped my mind. I'd rather not write up a report for this game without the pictures(or maybe I'm just lazy). The mission was modified annihilation with 5 objectives that each count for 2 kill points each. I played Adam's blood angels with Mephiston leading the charge with the Death Company right behind in a Land Raider. It was a decisive win for Saim-Hann wild riders, with 22 battle points. Next week I will definitely take some pictures and type up a semi-detailed battle report, after the dust settles. Till then back to the webway to plan our next strike.

40k Summer League 2010 Kicks off

Guess whose back? Islyfe thats who. It has been a long time since I updated the blog and I felt its about time I get off my ass and I do something about. Timing could not have been more fitting because the summer league has just kicked off for 40k at Brothers Grim (Selden, NY). I will be posting up battle reports of all my games for the next ten weeks and hopefully for the semi-finals and finals. There is about 42+ players in this league which is about how many players we draw normally for are Bi-Monthly tournaments. Yay for the mecca of 40k on Long Island!

To read the format and rules for the 40 league http://www.brgrim.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14191

My first block is a pretty standard eldar list, three fire dragon squads seems kind of over kill at 1500 pts but the Eldar codex doesn't give me many options, *sad face*. Threw in a Fire Prism to to support my two dakka falcons and so my opponents dont deploy in a cluster fuck. While my second block was made in considration of the horde playering nids and orks, apparently there are quite a number of tyranids this time around compared to last fall with a whooping 2 hive fleets. So I will be gettting back to you guys soon with my first battle report against blood angels.

1746

Izzys list was something like this, excuse me for butchering the list because I'm not sure what else he had.

inquistor lord: emperors tarot, plasma gun,
w/ henchmen; 3 plamas, 2 combi-plasmas

Callidus assasin

Grey knight termies (5)

Imp Guard Vets with 3 meltas in chimera with multilaser/heavy bolters

Imp Guard Vets with 3 meltas in chimera with multilaser/heavy bolters

Dominion squad with 4 meltas w. sister superior

Leman Russ Vanquisher with/ lascannon

Mission: Annihilation
Deployment: Pitched battle.

Izzy won roll for deployment and chose me to deploy first. I spread my forces across the table, he bunkers up behind to buildings GKT babysitting the leman russ and a chimera. Dominion rhino and other chimera hide in other building. He reserves Valkyrie w/ inquistor lord. He rolls twice to steal initiative with emperors tarot and fails.

[Turn 1]

Saim Hann:

Cast fortune on jetlocks and move up. I shot bright lances and fire prisms at Grey Knight Termies, killing two.

Inquisition:

A jetlock dies to multilaser/heavy bolter fire.

[Turn 2]

Saim Hann:

Cast fortune on jetlocks and move up Some more. I start shifting my tanks to left and shoot everything.

I shook one of his chimeras.

Inquisition:

Rolls reserves both Valkyrie and Callidus come in. He outflanked the Valkyrie and lines his Valkyrie behind a DA Serpent the inquisitors retinue drop out and double pump plasma into rear armor and explodes it (killing 4 Dire avengers inside). Valkyrie then finishes off the rest of squad.

Vanquisher shoots at fire prism, the shot deviates on to a wave serpents rear armor. Wave Serpent explodes (killing 2 FD inside)

Callidus assassin fried two warlocks with template and then killed two more with c'tan phase sword, but then she falls to their witch blades.

[Turn 3]

Saim Hann:

I boost up a Prism cannon and drop large blast on lord inquisitors squad killing all the henchmen.
I shoot bright lance and immobilize a chimera.
Warlock and Farseer charge Valkyrie and wreck it.

Inquisition:

Dominion rhino plows through building and disembark to unload everything into the rear armor of my second DA wave serpent. AWeapon destroyed and 3 immobile later leaves wave serpent wrecked. Dire Avenger Pile out.

Multi laser/heavy bolter from a chimera fire and kill 3 FD in cover, only the exarch survives.

Inquisitor double taps plasma gun and charges (takes a 3d6 psychic test and passes) the jetlocks but I make all my saves and I wound him once. *I didn't realize he shot a rapid fire weapon then charged until now.

[Turn 4]

Saim Hann:

Fire Dragon Exarch lines up the twin linked heavy flamer with 8 sisters under the template and wound all 8 sisters killing 2 girls.

Dire Avengers fire their Shuriken Catapults and kill 4 more sisters.

Dire avengers and fire dragon exarch charge the sisters killing one chick, sister uses faith to make their strength 5 then pummel FD exarch.

Inquisitor takes another 3d6 psychic test and receives a Perils of Warp wound, the jetlocks then finish him off with witch blades.

Inquisition:

Leman Russ explodes a fire prism.

2 storm bolters from the rhino into my rear armor destroyed the TL-bright lance off my last wave serpent(fire dragons).

Grey Knights Termies advance midfield heading towards Dire Avenger and Dominion fight.
Veteran Squad jump out immobile and run towards center.

GAME ENDS

Game ends because its like 2am and the store owner wants to leave. We didn't even get to resolve the assault phase, slipped my mind. They game might have swayed my way in the following turn(s) or at least tied but who knows. Especially since he had the veterans in template formation for my other DFC/CS Exarch. I don't know if the farseer/warlock would have got the in time to charge termies. The game ended anticlimactically but was still a great game though

[Kill Points]

Saim Hann: 4
Inquisitor lord
His Retinue
Valkyrie
Callidus

Inquisition: 6
Dire Avengers
Fire Dragons
3 wave serpents
1 Fire Prism

An overall fun game with two great looking armies. All comments and criticisms are welcome, I'm still learning the game so excuse the noobiness. Izzy was a great opponent and I await my rematch.
